US federal loans
If you are a student from the USA, you may be eligible for a US federal loan provided by the US Department of Education.
Federal loans usually offer lower interest rates and more flexible repayment options than loans from banks or other private sources.
The University of Brighton is certified to administer Federal Aid, and a range of our undergraduate and postgraduate courses are eligible for federal loan funding.
The University of Brighton participates in the William D. Ford Direct Loan Programme for federal financial aid but you will have to apply for this through the Federal Student Aid website.
Before you apply, download our comprehensive guide Financial Aid for US Students. Please find a copy of the notice of availability of institutional and financial aid information.
US loans are administered by the university’s Student Funding Team based on the Moulsecoomb campus, Brighton.
For more information about student financial aid, see the Federal Student Aid website or call the Federal Student Aid Information Centre on 1-800-4-FED-AID (1-800-433-3243).

Veterans funding
If you are planning to use Post 9/11 GI Bill or any other funding from the Department of Veterans’ Affairs, please email us at us-ca-loans@brighton.ac.uk as early as possible.
For you to be eligible for this funding, we need to obtain individual programme approval for each student, which can take several months.
Study Abroad
If you are registered at a US university and are here as part of a Study Abroad Programme, you should not apply for financial aid through the University of Brighton. Please apply instead to your home university.
