The University of Brighton works with young people in schools and colleges to encourage more students to consider the benefits of higher education. This is especially significant in the Hastings area where educational progression has historically been low.
Supporting academies
The university is the sponsor of the University of Brighton Academies Trust. Formed in 2010, the Trust looks after a network of 15 infant, primary and secondary schools in Sussex, all graded as Good or Outstanding by Ofsted.
Excellence, innovation and integrity are the values that guide the Trust. Its mission is to help pupils, and everyone connected to their academies achieve excellence. By working collaboratively and sharing ideas, insights and best practice, the academies support each other to improve. Enriched by the university's contribution, they work to ensure that their 7,500 pupils are inspired to meet their full potential and develop a passion for life-long learning.
Partner colleges
One of the ways in which the University of Brighton supports widening access to higher education in the region is by validating university-level courses at our partner colleges, which include:
The university also validates the PGCE Secondary award for 2 Schools Consortium.
