Karen Cham, Professor of Digital Transformation Design in the School of Media, will be accompanying Baroness Rona Fairhead, Minister of State for Trade and Export Promotion, for a series of events in the cities of Mumbai, Hyderabad and Bangalore from 4-10 February.
Also attending will be Sir Malcolm Grant, Chairman of NHS England, Jeremy Silver, CEO of Digital Catapult, the technology innovation centre that aims to unlock digital growth in the UK economy, Dr Ralf Dieter Speth, CEO of Jaguar LandRover, and Mike McGeer, Chief Creative Officer and Co-founder of Framestore, the creative studio.
Professor Cham will be on a panel in Mumbai to “celebrate and explore the convergence of creativity and technology – Createch – and how it’s enabling the creation of new value-added products, services and experiences”.
The Department for International Trade said 70 UK companies will be represented at the summit: “By convening five diverse groups – film, music, industrial design, healthcare and immersive tech – the summit will create a unique platform for often-siloed industries to meet, do business and share best practice, while hearing from world-leading experts at the forefront of innovation in the UK.”
Last year, Professor Cham, Academic Lead of the Brighton Digital Catapult Centre and Lead for Connected Future which provides a focus for the university’s research and enterprise activity, joined Labour Party Deputy Leader Tom Watson MP on a panel at a Fringe event during the Labour Party conference in Brighton, discussing ‘The future of decent work in a digital world’.
