It’s the fourth consecutive time Professor Yannis Pitsiladis of the university’s School of Sport and Service Management has been selected for the role.
The Commission provides a “guiding reference for all other sports organisations on matters relating to the protection of the health of athletes”.
Yannis said: “Being part of this commission allows impactful research to be expedited from laboratory to application in the field and at the highest level – the Olympic Games.
“It also allows the participation as an expert at all Olympic Games including the Youth Olympic Games to evaluate and implement changes to safeguard the health of the doping free athlete.”
Yannis added that he was excited about the opportunity to “set and oversee the agenda for positive change in sport and exercise medicine”.
The next Commission meetings will take place from 6 to 8 December 2018.
