Dr Paul Harris, Reader in applied mathematics and Senior Lecturer Steve Kilgallon, both from the School of Computing, Engineering and Mathematics, organised the Saturday morning classes in collaboration with the Royal Institution (RI) and Sussex branch of the Mathematical Association.
At the end of the last of the five sessions the 38 participating students were presented with certificates from the RI, by the university’s Vice-Chancellor Professor Debra Humphris.
Dr Harris said “The aim was to help the students with their studies but also to show them how maths can unlock so many interesting secrets and how it can be fun and rewarding.
“The sessions were a great success and parents thanked us and said how much their children had enjoyed them.”
