The MDTea project was set up by consultant geriatricians Dr Iain Wilkinson and Dr Jo Preston supported by a multi-professional faculty drawn from within Kent, Surrey and Sussex.
University of Brighton experts have joined the team to create evidence-based, up-to-date best practice in healthcare advice on a full range of issues including pain control, hydration, falls, dizziness, depression, nutrition and sleep problems.
Jackie Lelkes, Senior Lecturer in the university’s School of Applied Social Sciences, explained her role: “I work with health and other members of the university who are passionate about looking after the needs of older adults and believe it is important to support all health and social care professionals to develop the skills to look after older adults.”
