The aim of the project is to optically investigate the influence of fuel composition on diesel spray atomisation and combustion.
The research will be conducted on optical engine test-cells using high-speed cameras and state-of-the-art laser-based equipment. Of particular interest are the fundamental processes central to fuel atomisation and in-cylinder mixture preparation strategies, and the role that these play in the formation of exhaust emissions.
