When is this bursary paid?
Bursaries are paid in each year of your course, subject to the eligibility criteria still being met. Bursaries are paid in two equal instalments, on 16 January and 2 May.

Who is eligible?
University of Brighton Aimhigher bursaries are paid to students who meet the following criteria:
- participated in a University of Brighton or Aimhigher Sussex widening participation programme
- have a household income up to and including £25,000
- are an undergraduate student from England
- are studying on a full-time undergraduate course (registered to study 120 credits)
- are eligible for the standard government student support package of maintenance grant and student loans for fees and living costs
- entered higher education in 2012 or 2013
- are studying for an undergraduate honours degree or foundation degree at the University of Brighton or an indirectly-funded course at Plumpton, Brighton Metropolitan College, or East Sussex College Group
- are not in receipt of either the University of Brighton care leaver or widening access bursary.
You do not need to make an application to be considered for this bursary. Using the information you provide to UCAS and Student Finance England, we assess you against the eligibility criteria.
Your eligibility for this bursary will be re-assessed each academic year.
Exceptions
Nursing, midwifery, social work and allied health professions (AHP) courses and Brighton and Sussex Medical School students have different tuition fee and funding arrangements and do not qualify for the University of Brighton widening access bursary.
Your eligibility for a University of Brighton widening access bursary may be affected if you already have a degree or other higher education qualification and you study for another qualification at the same or a lower level.
