Waterblade fits to a tap and reduces water consumption by up to twice as much as a standard eco aerating nozzle.
As a member of the University's Green Growth Platform, now known as Clean Growth UK, Waterblade worked closely with product design specialists from the University to improve the performance of their invention.
Using computer modelling and 3D printing, they were able to refine and test their product to maximise its performance and gain invaluable data to share with investors and clients.
The Brighton Waste House is a building constructed using over 85% waste material and is a living laboratory for ecological architectural design. Demonstrating various principles of sustainable architecture and design, the building aims to prove that often undervalued and so-called ‘waste’ material has the potential to become a valuable resource.
The project was created in partnership with waste re-usage experts, and a range of specialists and waste-concern enterprises. Researchers found that there were many problematic practices leading to unnecessary waste, and they aimed to re-purpose discarded materials within the construction process. Old toothbrushes that had only been used once and thrown away, for example, were used for wall cavities.
