A location that everyone loves

Brighton: progressive and exciting, it’s big enough to inspire you but small enough to feel at home.

Between the beach and the countryside and just over an hour to London, whether you commute or move here, Brighton gives the best student life.

A boost to your finances

Studying at Brighton is a great investment and the Brighton Boost will help you to make the best possible start, with discounts and bursaries to support your cost of living, and university services that make everyday things just that little bit easier

I was surprised at how relieved I felt at university as I was finally in charge of my own work. I could access as many resources as I needed (such as research in the library, or direct conversations with my lecturers or tutor), making my work much easier to handle.

Brighton City Tour 2024 – American student takes you on a tour of the city!

Welcome to Brighton! In this 2024 city tour Ally, an American student at the University of Brighton, takes us on a tour of Brighton, East Sussex, a seaside city which is just 47 miles south of London. Ally starts the tour at *Brighton Train Station* , which was originally built in 1840. This was where she first arrived in Brighton, so it made sense as the starting point for this tour of the city! On the way to the next stop in the tour, Ally walks past colourful street art and you start to get a sense of the city. Next in the tour, is the *Open Market* , a partially covered market with stalls, grocers, cafes, restaurants and more. It’s a great place to find small, locally run businesses in the city and shows a lot of the different products on offer in Brighton. The third stop in the tour is *‘The Level’* , a popular community park in the centre of the city which is one of the largest public open spaces in central Brighton. The Level is home to a large open field, skate park, water fountains and cafes! Ally then spends time in the tour to talk about her experience as an American student and a young woman in the city of Brighton, she shares how she feels safe in the city and enjoys walking around Brighton, that she feels a sense of community here. Then we reach *‘The Lanes* in this tour, a favourite spot in the city for tourists and locals alike. They were originally built in the late 18th century and offer a unique environment with interesting architecture to walk through. The lanes are full of independent and unique shops, a cinema, restaurants and cafes – it is a must stop in any tour of the city! Ally then takes some time on the tour to speak about the difference between her life in America and in Brighton, UK. Ally talks about her work/life balance and how she enjoys the culture of working in cafes and taking time for herself in the city. Next, Ally explains how the public transport in Brighton is helpful to get around the city at a much more affordable price compared to what she would spend on fuel getting around in America. On the way to the next stop in the tour, Ally walks past more colourful street art and explains how it’s a useful meeting point in the city for friends! The next stop in this tour of Brighton is a selection of local, *traditional pubs* ! Ally enjoys some traditional British food and discusses some of the culture shocks she experienced when she first moved to the city of Brighton from America, and how working in a pub helped her overcome them. With approximately 340 in Brighton alone, it couldn’t be a tour of the city without a few pubs in there, that’s for sure! Next on the Brighton tour, Ally visits an icon of the city, the *Royal Pavilion & Garden* . Originally built in the late 18th century as a seaside retreat for the Prince of Wales, it boasts extravagant architecture, historic interior design, relaxing gardens and museums for you to explore and learn more about Brighton’s history. It wouldn’t be a tour of Brighton without the *Brighton Palace Pier!* Here, Ally discusses how she met with a group of other international students when she first moved to Brighton, to help her settle into the city and make friends who were in a similar situation to her. At the final stop of the tour, Ally takes a break from the city and relaxes on *Brighton Beach* , shows us the West Pier and enjoys some Fish & Chips! *For more tour videos check out our Campus Tours:* *Campus Tour Playlist* 👉 [https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL05n-Tp7wVNwh7r3X4quoOFW7UX7WaGn2&feature=shared] 👉 [https://youtu.be/fJdm2wRa--U?feature=shared] 👉 [https://youtu.be/RHSXTC4TynY?feature=shared] 👉 [https://youtu.be/51p4pVeFnv4?feature=shared] *Brighton City Tour Timestamps* 00:00 - Brighton City Tour Introduction 00:22 – Brighton Train Station 00:47 – The Open Market 01:24 – The Level 01:50 – Walking Around Brighton 02:07 – The Brighton North Lanes 02:24 – Brighton Cafe’s & Work/Life Balance 02:44 – Brighton’s Public Transport 03:01 – Brighton South Lanes 03:16 – Brighton’s Traditional Pubs 03:39 – The Royal Pavilion & Garden 04:07 – Brighton Palace Pier 04:28 – Brighton Beach 04:54 – Brighton’s Fish & Chips 05:07 – Brighton City Tour Outro *Interested in studying at Brighton?
