HEIR 2020: registration and call for papers – now open!

The international event, in its thirteenth year, attracts delegates from across the Higher Education (HE) sector and beyond, including institutional researchers, data analysts, academic developers, student experience experts, policymakers, strategic planners, pedagogical researchers, quality professionals, business intelligence analysts, management information specialists, market intelligence officers, teachers, researchers and institutional managers. 

The conference theme is ‘Institutional Research: Strengthening Higher Education Futures’ and comprises three strands which will highlight the ways in which institutional research, evaluation and data increasingly play a pivotal role in supporting institutional effectiveness to strengthen HE futures.

Papers are being invited on one of the three conference strands:

• Enhancing learning lives
• Enriching data stories
• Influencing policy

The two-day conference includes four influential keynote speakers; Professor Sir Chris Husbands, Eliza Kozman, David Kernohan, and Nona McDuff; all experts in their field, ready to share their knowledge and insights on the current issues facing the sector and how we can effectively respond. In addition, there will be a range of relevant breakout sessions throughout the event, delivered by inspiring HE professionals and academics.

Rachel Bowden, Head of the University of Brighton’s Evaluation and Policy Department and Chair of HEIR2020 Planning Group, said: “I am absolutely delighted that the University of Brighton is able to host this important annual conference.

“The event offers a unique opportunity for both HE professional service staff and academics to come together to share insights and good practice, and to support each other to seek solutions to common challenges affecting all of us across the sector, particularly in these times of rapid change. 

“The conference is a key date in the calendar for HEIR Network members, but the event is open to all academics, professionals and organisations with an interest in or commitment to leveraging institutional research to strengthen the HE sector.”
