Following this week’s government announcement on new funding to support a flexible approach to lifelong learning and skills development, the University of Brighton will be looking to further expand its range of high-quality professional and technical education to help meet the needs of those looking to retrain or develop new skills.
University of Brighton’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Debra Humphris said: “As a university that is committed to lifelong learning, we welcome this reform to funding rules which supports our plans to deliver more flexible routes to high-quality professional and technical qualifications. We already have a high proportion of mature and part-time students, and a growing portfolio of degree apprenticeships, which are enabling people to develop their knowledge and skills throughout their careers.
“I sincerely hope that the move will reverse the steep decline in the numbers of mature learners undertaking higher level study during recent years, by removing some of the restrictions that prevent adults from re-entering higher education.”
