About these scholarships
This information relates to the academic year 2024–25 and will be updated for 2025–26 when details have been confirmed.
These scholarships are for eligible students who are starting their postgraduate course in academic year 2024–25, and are only available for the first year of study.
Scholarships worth 20% of tuition fees will be awarded to students who already hold a University of Brighton academic award and who wish to study at postgraduate level at the university.
The scholarship is open to any alumni, studying full-time or part-time for a postgraduate award, except those on apprenticeship programmes or integrated masters and paying regulated fees.
BSMS students
Students at Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS) are eligible for a different range of scholarships. Details of these can be found on their website: scholarships for BSMS students.
Who is eligible
This scholarship is available to University of Brighton academic award holders* who wish to study at postgraduate level at the university. The value of this scholarship is equivalent to a 20% reduction to tuition fees.
This scholarship is for students commencing their studies in the 2024–25 academic year.
Both full-time and part-time students are eligible for this scholarship.
The scholarship applies to postgraduate level study including Postgraduate Taught (PGT) courses and Postgraduate Research (PGR) including:
- Masters (MSc, MA, MBA, MPA, LLM)
- Masters of research (MRes)
- PGDip
- PGCert
- MPhil
- PhD
- Professional doctorate.
Exclusions
Students paying regulated fees for postgraduate courses i.e. the equivalent of £9,250 for full-time study, are not eligible for this scholarship e.g. PGCE, MEng, March, MPharm and Pre-Registration Health degrees etc.
Students studying individual or free-standing modules that are not being taken towards an overarching academic award are not eligible for this scholarship.
This scholarship cannot be applied in combination with any other scholarship or discount.
Students who have any outstanding debt owed to the university will not be eligible for the scholarship. The university reserves the right to withdraw the scholarship if a student becomes indebted to the university whilst on the course for which they received the scholarship.
The university reserves the right to discontinue the offer of this scholarship. In such circumstances students will continue to receive the scholarship (subject to eligibility), until they have completed or withdrawn from their current course / programme of study.

How to apply
The scholarship is automatically awarded to students who meet the eligibility criteria. If you are interested in studying an eligible course, but are yet to apply, you should go ahead and submit your application online in the normal way. If you are offered a place, we will automatically identify you as an eligible.
